Marine Ports and Harbours

As an island nation – the UK has its fair share of ports and harbours. High-traffic, industrial sites in their own right, these locations must operate efficiently, in line with exacting health and safety standards. The standards not only apply to the locations themselves, but also to various imports and exports that move through them.

The complexity of lighting solutions for Marine Ports and Harbours is largely due to the diversity of requirements across their various buildings and uses. It takes expertise and experience of working in these areas, to find the best possible solutions that will stand the test of time.

Why choose Ecolighting Systems?

The harsh conditions found at many of our ports, make the design of their various lighting systems a complicated task. Lighting should be resistant to extreme temperatures, high winds, vibrations caused by arriving vessels, and of course saline conditions caused by salt water. Fittings have to be robust, which is why we partner with the best manufacturers in the industry. Our preferred partners offer a range of British Marine Standard lighting which is not only used across our Ports and harbours, but also on board vessels and in offshore applications.

We’ve also worked with some of the country’s leading harbour owners, including Peel Ports – whose portfolio includes Clydeport, Great Yarmouth, Dublin, Liverpool, London Medway, Manchester Ship Canal, Heysham, and Humber Bulk Terminal. We’ve partnered on a variety of projects with different scales and scopes, ensuring the optimal system is delivered each and every time.

Our experience
We have a thorough understanding of the various environments contained within our ports, and pour our expertise into each lighting design accordingly.

Storage facilities
As well as our experience of ports, we work with the various industries who often use port storage facilities and therefore understand the requirements of each separate area. Storage areas at modern ports might hold hazardous substances, grain, or other materials, each of which come with their own set of lighting requirements. We work with the majority of UK industries and can advise and design accordingly.

Docking areas
As well as the extreme conditions found along our coastline, lighting for docking areas needs to be uniform, explosion-proof, and long-lasting to maintain 24-hour visibility. Solutions need to be mindful of the products moving through, and aid the safety of individuals who work there – in what can be a dangerous environment.
