Case Study

The challenge

A well-known Glasgow-based bottling plant was carrying out a programme of works to improve their overall carbon footprint with the aim of meeting a number of ambitious energy-saving targets. To support these efforts, the client got in touch with Ecolighting to advise on the design and installation of smart, energy-efficient street lighting.

Simon Taylor, Founder of Ecolighting Systems said:

“As well as being energy-efficient, the lighting design had to be able to be controlled remotely and on-site, and activate through in-built motion and sunlight detection technology.

With a firm set of requirements and understanding of the client’s needs, we set to work to find the ideal lighting solution that would work for their budget.”

The solution

Ecolighting worked with the client to determine key project constraints and budget, to select the best products for the site. Limas fittings by Schuch were installed, which provided the client with a cloud-based system allowing remote and on-site control of the fittings. The system also gives the client in-depth energy reporting that includes a variety of real-time metrics.

The lighting fixtures themselves provide all the benefits of a market-leading product, including minimal unwanted light emissions, hardwearing materials to ensure durability, optimised thermal management for maximum efficiency, and an integrated pressure system that prevents condensation in the fixture’s interior.

The client created its own plan for the lighting, which was then refined by the expertise of the Ecolighting team. Precise levels and uniformity of lighting across the site in question were prioritised, for a professional and effective result.

To ensure the team reap the benefits of the new lighting system, the Ecolighting team conducted a site visit post-installation, and arranged a one-day training session for all operators who use the system. This ensured that all stakeholders could use the system appropriately and gather the insights necessary to report on their ongoing efforts to become more energy efficient.
