Tanker Loading Lighting Upgrade
Case Study
Client: Leading Scotch Whisky Producer
Location: Scotland
Sector: Food & Beverage / Industrial Lighting
Overview
A key player in the Scottish whisky sector required a lighting upgrade at their tanker fill station, a critical part of their production and logistics operations. The fill station operates 24 hours a day, necessitating a solution that would enhance visibility, ensure safety, and optimise energy consumption.
Challenge
-
Improve illumination levels for safe and efficient operations
-
Support continuous 24/7 activity with durable, low-maintenance fittings
-
Deliver energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact
-
Operate in a Zone 2 hazardous area environment
-
Minimise local light pollution in surrounding areas
Solution
To meet the client’s requirements, Ecolighting Systems developed a custom lighting scheme in collaboration with Glasgow-based contractor McArthurs Renewables. The system employed Zone 2-rated LED high bays from the Schuch nD8300 range.
Key Features:
-
Single and twin-wing configurations for targeted light placement
-
High light-to-power efficiency, ideal for energy-conscious applications
-
Enhanced optics to direct light precisely where needed
-
Fully compliant with ATEX Zone 2 regulations
-
Rugged, industrial-grade build suited to continuous operation
Results
-
Improved light levels in operational zones
-
Optimised energy use, supporting sustainability goals
-
Reduced maintenance through long-life LED technology
-
Minimised light spill, enhancing environmental compliance
Conclusion
This project is a testament to Ecolighting Systems’ ability to deliver safe, energy-efficient lighting in demanding industrial environments. By utilising advanced optics and compliant high bay fittings, the tanker loading area is now safer, more efficient, and aligned with modern energy standards
